About The Position
Washington Montessori School is seeking a Girls Basketball Coach for its Middle School (Grades 6–8) for the 2026–27 winter season, December 2 through March 4. This role suits someone who loves the game, enjoys working with young athletes, and cares about both skill development and character.
Requirements
- Basketball playing and/or coaching experience, ideally at the youth or middle school level.
- Ability to create a calm, safe, and positive environment for student-athletes.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong communicator.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Alignment with the school's Montessori values and a commitment to student-centered athletics.
Nice To Haves
- A Connecticut "A" endorsement, or willingness to get one, so you can drive the team to away games.
Responsibilities
- Plan and run practices that build fundamental skills, teamwork, and game understanding.
- Coach all scheduled games, home and away.
- Motivate student-athletes in line with the school's athletic philosophy and mission.
- Model and teach sportsmanship, respect, and a positive team culture.
- Communicate with the Athletic Director about schedules, rosters, and any concerns.
- Keep practices and games safe, supervised, and inclusive for all players.

- Stipend of $2,000 for the season for coaches with an "A" endorsement.
