About The Position

This is a stipend position for a Middle School Athletic Director. The role involves serving as the primary administrator for game and event management, overseeing athletic eligibility, and managing coaching staff. The position requires fostering a positive culture of sportsmanship and leadership, and building strong relationships with students, families, coaches, and the community. The Athletic Director will also support district initiatives and provide exceptional customer service at athletic events.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of MHSAA rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator responsible for game and event management for all middle athletic competitions.
  • Oversight of Final Forms ensuring effective communication between coaches, students and families.
  • Oversight of athletic eligibility for middle school student-athletes.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, support, supervise, and evaluate middle school coaching staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, coaches, boosters, community partners, conference representatives, officials, and local organizations while serving as a positive ambassador for Hemlock Public School District.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming, world-class experience for student-athletes, families, visiting schools, officials, senior citizens, and community members at all athletic events and activities.
  • Promote broad student participation, sportsmanship, leadership development, and positive educational experiences that place students at the center of every decision.
  • Support district initiatives and perform additional administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Be visible, approachable, and actively engaged with middle school students, coaches, families, officials, volunteers, and community members, building positive relationships through consistent presence and accessibility.
  • Maintain high expectations, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effectively oversee Middle School athletic contests, tournaments, special events, and facility operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and memorable experiences for participants and guests.
  • Foster a culture built on sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, service, respect, and excellence while modeling the highest standards of professionalism.
