(2026-2027) Middle School Associate Teacher
About The Position
Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school with a mission to prepare scholars for college and to foster service-minded leadership through a demanding yet supportive, content-rich educational environment. The Associate Teacher role is designed for individuals new to the teaching profession, offering hands-on experience and a clear path to becoming a lead teacher. Associate Teachers will collaborate with experienced Lead Teachers as part of a grade-level team, gradually taking on more responsibility for lesson planning and instruction. They will receive ongoing professional development, frequent feedback, and coaching. Specific content areas and instructional roles will vary based on school needs and team structures.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed.
- The desire to become a classroom teacher.

Responsibilities
- Serve as part of a grade-level team.
- Work in collaboration with and under the guidance of experienced Lead Teachers.
- Take on increasing responsibility for lesson planning and lead teaching as the year progresses.
- Participate in weekly meetings with a manager for support.
- Attend daily prep periods.
