About The Position

Bromley East Charter School is seeking a full-time Middle School Art Teacher for grades 6-8. This role involves developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum, delivering engaging lessons for diverse learners, and collaborating with colleagues. The teacher will also foster positive relationships with parents and the community, communicate student progress, represent the school at district events, and complete administrative tasks such as grading. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with hours dependent on business needs. Compensation ranges from $58,003 to $79,685, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education required, or the ability to obtain one; focus in Secondary Education preferred.
  • Valid Colorado in-field teaching license (or equivalent) required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • 1+ year of full-time experience as a state or special services teacher is preferred.
  • Intermediate understanding of educational theories, teaching strategies, and the ability to tailor instruction to secondary-aged students.
  • Expert knowledge of art educational practices and can tailor instruction specifically designed for children ages 11-14.
  • Basic knowledge in child psychology and the developmental stages—physical, social, and cognitive—of children aged 11-14 and be able to use that knowledge to tailor instruction and manage a classroom.
  • Basic knowledge of educational technology and digital tools and is able to leverage that proficiency to enhance learning.
  • Intermediate knowledge of state and national curriculum standards and has the ability to align classroom activities to these benchmarks effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge in educational communication and is able to communicate effectively with students, parents, guardians, colleagues, and administrators, both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced classroom management knowledge and is skilled in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Basic knowledge in student engagement and is skilled at designing and implementing engaging, differentiated lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Intermediate knowledge of formative and summative student assessments and uses that knowledge to assess student learning, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting instruction based on performance data.
  • Basic instructional knowledge and is able to develop and employ creative teaching approaches that stimulate student interest and participation.
  • Basic instructional knowledge and is able to modify teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
  • Advanced educational communications knowledge and has ability to collaborate and work with other teachers, support staff, and school administrators to foster a cooperative working environment as well as families and students.
  • Basic knowledge of Leader In Me and 7 Habits materials and can integrate these philosophies into daily instructional methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Secondary Education or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement social-emotional learning in alignment with the school's program and integrate throughout the instructional day.
  • Prepare and develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance instructional materials, teaching methodologies and progress towards building goals.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities to ensure educational goals are met.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
  • Monitor and assess student performance through observation and formal assessments, providing constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution among students and monitor their social and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and dynamic classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters a love for education.
  • Effectively manage student behavior, enforce school rules and policies, and address student issues related to health, conduct, and progress.
