About The Position

Miriam is seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and highly engaged Middle School Teacher to join our collaborative team. This student-centered educator will primarily teach middle school classes in an intimate, small-group setting (averaging 10 students per class). Classes would include history, English, science, and computer applications, as well as our Miriam Essentials program. The ideal candidate will administer the instructional program in compliance with school, state, and federal guidelines, providing necessary accommodations and differentiation in reading and writing to serve diverse learning profiles.

Requirements

  • Current Middle School teaching certification (e.g., Grades 5-9 or equivalent) covering core subjects such as English, science, history, and/or technology.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required
  • A passion for working and learning with adolescents
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team and integrate individual learning goals into daily lesson plans

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or other complex learning needs
  • Special Education certification/licensure (or a willingness to obtain it)
  • Experience with co-teaching models and differentiated instruction
  • Ability to work on a team, incorporate individual learning goals into daily lessons
  • Must enjoy working and learning with adolescents

Responsibilities

  • Instructs classes and helps teach our Miriam essentials curriculum to support comprehensive student development.
  • Fosters an inclusive classroom culture and utilizes effective management techniques to optimize learning. Inspires student passion across core subjects—including English, history, science, and computer applications—while building critical thinking, analysis, and literacy skills.
  • Collaborates with the administrators and other teachers to plan, evaluate, and revise course content and instruction methods tailored to diverse learning profiles.
  • Leverages technology to promote creativity, collaboration, and increased access to the curriculum.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of our experiential learning programs as needed.
  • Maintains consistent communication with parents and students to build strong collaborative relationships.
  • Actively participates in school-wide curriculum committees, faculty meetings, professional development, and community events (e.g., open houses and parent conferences).
  • Demonstrates a willingness to support extracurricular activities, chaperoning events, or coaching, as well as other projects at the school's discretion.
