Middle Office Operations Associate
About The Position
The Associate, Middle Office Operations supports daily operational processes across the trade lifecycle, including trade settlement, reconciliation, and cash management for diverse fund types across multiple custodians. The role requires a strong understanding of equity, derivative, and fixed income products to support accurate, efficient trade execution and post-trade operations. The Associate uses Excel, VBA, Python, and large language models to optimize and automate workflows, and applies close attention to detail and independent problem-solving. Bloomberg AIM experience is a plus. There is a strong preference for candidates near Tidal trading hubs in New York, Omaha, Chicago, Milwaukee, or West Palm Beach who are open to a hybrid work environment.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in middle office, back office, or fund services.
- Working knowledge of derivatives, fixed income products, and securities clearing.
- Solid understanding of derivative trading, fixed income products, cash management, and clearing processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Development skills using Excel, VBA, Python, and LLMs, primarily ChatGPT and Claude.
- High degree of accuracy and thoroughness when managing trading operations and large volumes of financial data in a fast-paced environment with high-quality deliverables.
- Ability to independently and quickly identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while driving process improvements.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor's degree or experience in a related field.
- Experience with trading platforms, order management systems (OMS), and post-trade processing.
- Bloomberg or Bloomberg AIM experience.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to trading activities.
- Experience delivering professional results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Located near a Tidal trading hub in New York, Omaha, Chicago, Milwaukee, or West Palm Beach and open to a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor trading workflows and identify opportunities to use automation to improve operational efficiency and minimize risk and errors.
- Ensure trades are accurately recorded in relevant systems, promptly address discrepancies, and work professionally with internal and external contacts.
- Collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, and back-office teams to align trading strategies and processes.
- Help develop and maintain middle office and trading team procedures and documentation, including scheduled reviews for compliance and accuracy.
- Support launch operations, compliance reviews, and fund accounting audit requirements.
- Assist with compiling data for team KPI reporting.
- Mitigate operational risk by improving manual workflows for accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle daily middle office functions, including reconciliation, trade settlements, trade support, and data management.
