Midday Dog Walker
About The Position
Charleston Dog Walker is hiring part-time dog walkers and pet sitters for weekday midday visits. The role involves independently visiting clients’ homes throughout the service area to care for dogs and cats. Work includes walking dogs, caring for cats, following feeding and medication instructions, handling cleanup, securing homes, and sending visit journals and photos. Training is provided, including online Pet Emergency Care certification, and a management team is available for support. Schedules are organized around stated availability. Candidates must currently live in James Island, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, Folly Beach, or Avondale. They must be available consistently around midday on at least three weekdays, ideally Monday through Friday; the main coverage need is approximately 11 a.m.–3 p.m., though shorter availability windows may work. Additional morning, evening, and weekend availability is welcome. The position is intended to continue for at least six months. Compensation is $11 per 30-minute visit, plus tips and mileage reimbursement between visits. Payroll is twice monthly.
Requirements
- Currently reside in James Island, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, Folly Beach, or Avondale; address eligibility is confirmed during hiring.
- Have consistent midday availability on at least three weekdays.
- Be interested in an ongoing role for at least six months.
- Have a reliable vehicle, a driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a phone.
- Pass a background check before onboarding.
- Be dependable, attentive to details, and willing to ask questions when instructions or circumstances are unclear.
