Mid-Level Manager Satellite Mission Support
About The Position
The Boeing Space & Mission Systems (SMS), Mission Systems Engineering and Operations Department is seeking a Mid-Level Manager - Satellite Mission Support. This role plays a critical leadership role across all Commercial, Civil, DoD and proprietary Space Mission Systems (SMS) satellite programs assuring quality operational support and sustainment services to all its customers. This engineering capability management position sets the vision and implements the strategies for creating an engineering center of excellence for satellite and satellite systems support under the Customer Operations Support Center and proprietary program sustainment programs. The Boeing Satellite Mission Support Manager leads a team of 15+ talented and dedicated engineers, across multiple disciplines, SMS SEIT Capability in support of the diverse Commercial, DoD and National Program portfolio.
Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain a Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 5+ years of experience in Space/Satellite systems.
- 3+ years of experience working with Real-time Satellite or Space Systems Operations.
- 5+ years of experience with propulsion GNC, Avionics design/integration.
- 3+ years of experience interacting directly with external customers.
- This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

- Strong Communication, Adaptability, Decision Making, Customer Focus, Integrated Systems, Engineering Analysis, and Requirements/Tracing skillset
- Strong background in several of the following areas: satellite mission operations including CONOPS development, astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, analysis and simulation, spacecraft dynamics, or mission systems engineer roles, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
- Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
Responsibilities
- Develops and manages the people, operations products, processes and tools necessary to execute integrated customer focused strategies that deliver improved performance for customers assets
- Manages, develops and motivates employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of customer asset monitoring, anomaly investigations and operations improvements to a wide range of customer assets
- Engages with satellite customers and operators to ensure Boeing provides excellent technical support and to solicit feedback on the performance of the fleet
- Promulgate engineering best practices and efficiencies across the business that will deliver containment, proactive and preventative solutions to customers’ operations and assets.
- Provides feedback on product performance to enhance future spacecraft design by actively monitoring data and working with program teams and new business
