About The Position

AECOM is seeking a motivated Mid-Level ITS Engineer to join its Transportation practice in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role contributes to the planning, design, integration, and implementation of intelligent transportation infrastructure and emerging technologies to improve roadway safety, mobility, and system performance across Indiana and the broader region. Technologies include traffic management systems, fiber-optic communications, CCTV, dynamic message signs, traffic monitoring devices, vehicle detection, and connected vehicle applications. The engineer applies engineering principles and systems engineering processes to develop integrated solutions from initial concepts through final design and implementation. The position also supports traffic engineering, coordinates with clients and multidisciplinary partners, reviews junior staff work, and helps guide early-career colleagues. It offers opportunities to build project delivery, client coordination, technical leadership, and business development experience, with a pathway toward Deputy Project Management. The position is based in Indianapolis. Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office. The role does not provide visa sponsorship.
