About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Engineer (Civil or Mechanical) to join our Gas Engineering Team in Syracuse, NY. This role supports the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of critical transmission and distribution infrastructure for natural gas, petroleum, and related utility systems. The position offers an opportunity to help clients maximize asset value, navigate regulatory environments, strengthen system reliability, and advance practical solutions for the full lifecycle of essential energy infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
• Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
• Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
• Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Responsibilities

• Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for gas engineering projects, including transmission and distribution infrastructure, pipeline and conduit systems, and related facility improvements.
• Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership.
• Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices that support regulatory compliance, safe operations, asset reliability, and system performance.
• Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays on critical gas infrastructure initiatives.
• Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments associated with natural gas, petroleum, and utility assets.
