About The Position

The Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Transport Nurse is responsible for providing high-level care in a resourceful and efficient manner that aligns with the Samaritan Program standards. This role collaborates with a Paramedic partner to provide supportive and resuscitative care to acutely ill or injured patients during transport, both within and outside the hospital. The nurse must follow established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, American Nurse Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics. Additionally, the nurse is responsible for maintaining compliance with CAMTS requirements and all associated documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Certified BLS and ACLS required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of critical care/ED experience required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds. Lifting requirements may be heavier for specified departments.

Nice To Haves

  • CEN, CCRN, RNC, CFRN, or CTRN required within 2 years of hire/transfer.
  • NRP required within 2 years of hire/transfer.
  • Must obtain PHTLS, BTLS or ITLS within one year of employment.
  • Must have PALS or PEPP within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level care in a resourceful and efficient manner aligning with Samaritan Program standards.
  • Collaborate with Paramedic partner to provide supportive and resuscitative care to acutely ill or injured patients during transport.
  • Provide care to patients both in and out of the hospital during transport.
  • Follow established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to American Nurse Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, and the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain compliance with CAMTS requirements and all associated documentation.
