The Nurse Manager oversees, plans, organizes, manages, and evaluates patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24-hour basis as needed. This role involves planning and developing strategic short, mid-, and long-term goals and processes to enhance and improve unit operations, supporting the Medical Center’s mission, vision, and values. The Nurse Manager evaluates and identifies achievements and problems in meeting goals, and manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff. This position promotes and ensures ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments and areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services. Additionally, the Nurse Manager develops, administers, and manages unit budget plans, identifies and initiates cost-saving initiatives, participates in the development of evidence-based standards of practice, identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes, and assumes leadership in identifying and correcting factors contributing to problematic outcomes. The dynamic MICU serves as sister units co-located on the same floor, including pulmonology intensivists, critical care attendings, and specially trained nurses, providing unparalleled care. The patient population spans multisystem organ failure, pre-solid organ transplant, and post-cardiac arrest care, providing a high-acuity environment with meaningful opportunities for growth and skill development. Robust onboarding and hands-on training are provided to manage complex therapies such as MTP and CRRT.
