About The Position

The Laser Seal Technician is responsible for performing high-precision hermetic sealing and laser welding operations on critical components. This role requires a meticulous approach to following detailed process instructions to ensure product integrity and reliability. The technician will operate specialized laser equipment, conduct environmental stress testing, and perform precision de-lidding in a fast-paced, high-accountability manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment, preferably involving laser welding, electronics assembly, or semiconductor packaging.
  • Proven ability to operate laser equipment and environmental test chambers.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical manuals and process instructions with zero deviation.
  • High level of manual dexterity for handling small, fragile components and performing precision alignments.
  • Ability to maintain high quality and accuracy while working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to use microscopes and precision hand tools for long durations.
  • Visual acuity required for the inspection of micro-welds.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with leak detection equipment (e.g., helium leak detectors) is highly preferred.
  • Certification in laser safety or specialized welding techniques.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Prior experience with cleanroom protocols and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision laser welding to create hermetic seals on components, ensuring all seals meet strict vacuum and leak-rate specifications.
  • Execute environmental stress screening (ESS), including thermal cycling and vibration testing, to validate the integrity of the seals and the durability of the components.
  • Perform machine de-lidding operations to access internal components for inspection, rework, or failure analysis without damaging the substrate.
  • Strictly follow written process instructions, engineering drawings, and quality checklists to ensure consistency and compliance with aerospace and defense standards.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate laser welding stations and environmental test chambers; perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on machinery.
  • Conduct visual inspections and utilize measurement tools to verify weld quality and seal integrity, documenting all results in the manufacturing execution system.
