About The Position

DRS Daylight Solutions business provides industry-changing mid-infrared laser light technology for government and commercial markets, including: defense and security; life sciences; and industrial process control. Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on moderately complex components, devices, materials, products, processes, and/or equipment.

Requirements

Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area.
Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
Experienced in handling small, delicate components, using ESD practices.
Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and LabVIEW.
Must have good mechanical skills.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
U.S. Citizenship required.
This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Nice To Haves

Soldering and wire-bonding experience is a plus.
Experience with MRP is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on moderately complex components, devices, materials, products, processes, and/or equipment.
Responsible for testing, modifying, reworking, and repairing electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies.
Work from moderately complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and sketches.
Design and test prototype assemblies and production units.
Use judgment in reworking or rewiring to bring units within quality control specifications.
Test, inspect, and repair electronic, optical, or mechanical assemblies.
Work under minimal supervision and may provide guidance to other technicians.
Capable of performing related manufacturing processes.
Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with state and federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification.
May assist in training new team members.
Interface with other departments to assure an efficient flow of information and materials.
Perform alignment, testing, and troubleshooting of solid-state flashlight-pumped lasers and laser rangefinder optical systems.
Must use optical, mechanical, and electrical tools and test equipment for measurement, alignment, and testing
