About The Position

DRS Daylight Solutions business provides industry-changing mid-infrared laser light technology for government and commercial markets, including: defense and security; life sciences; and industrial process control. Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on moderately complex components, devices, materials, products, processes, and/or equipment.

Requirements

  • Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Experienced in handling small, delicate components, using ESD practices.
  • Must be experienced in the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and LabVIEW.
  • Must have good mechanical skills.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Soldering and wire-bonding experience is a plus.
  • Experience with MRP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on moderately complex components, devices, materials, products, processes, and/or equipment.
  • Responsible for testing, modifying, reworking, and repairing electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Work from moderately complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and sketches.
  • Design and test prototype assemblies and production units.
  • Use judgment in reworking or rewiring to bring units within quality control specifications.
  • Test, inspect, and repair electronic, optical, or mechanical assemblies.
  • Work under minimal supervision and may provide guidance to other technicians.
  • Capable of performing related manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with state and federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification.
  • May assist in training new team members.
  • Interface with other departments to assure an efficient flow of information and materials.
  • Perform alignment, testing, and troubleshooting of solid-state flashlight-pumped lasers and laser rangefinder optical systems.
  • Must use optical, mechanical, and electrical tools and test equipment for measurement, alignment, and testing
