We want to find an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer for our Digital Workplace Services team. This position can be located in Waltham, MA, Brooklyn, NY, Hicksville, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in either Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). As Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer, you'll provide strategic and technical leadership for Microsoft 365 Content, Collaboration, Digital Productivity, and emerging AI-enabled workplace capabilities within the Digital Workplace Services organization. You'll work closely with vendors, partners, operations teams, architects, and project delivery teams to drive both short-term service improvements and long-term platform strategy across Microsoft 365 technologies including SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot, and related collaboration services. You'll interface with key stakeholders across Information Technology and the National Grid business to define, communicate, document, and engineer scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions. You'll also partner with Operations teams on complex incidents and escalated issues while also driving platform modernization, automation, governance, and adoption initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or engineering Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 technologies including SharePoint Online, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and with exposure to Power Platform or related automation capabilities.
  • Experience with PowerShell or comparable scripting, API integration, or platform automation technologies.
  • Experience utilizing source control and modern engineering practices, including GitHub, version control, automation pipelines, testing, and change management processes
  • Experience working within Agile or product-oriented delivery models.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI Agents, or related AI-enabled productivity technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API, REST APIs, and enterprise automation solutions.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, PL-900, AZ-900, SC-900, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, or Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, with deep expertise in one or more core collaboration services and the ability to work effectively across related digital workplace technologies including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, Copilot, and related Microsoft 365 services.
  • Lead the design, engineering, implementation, and lifecycle management of Microsoft 365 services and strategic initiatives within the Content and Collaboration portfolio.
  • Drive engineering decisions and platform roadmaps that balance current business needs with long-term strategic objectives, technical debt reduction, security, scalability, and operational supportability.
  • Partner closely with Architecture, Product Owners, Engineering Managers, Security, Operations, and delivery teams to provide a secure, reliable, and world-class end-user experience.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and Microsoft roadmap capabilities, providing recommendations for platform modernization, automation, AI enablement, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement automation solutions utilizing Microsoft Graph, Power Platform, scripting, APIs, and related technologies to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
  • Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support for complex platform issues, serving as an escalation point for critical incidents and service disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, business stakeholders, technology leaders, and strategic partners.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, architectural patterns, operational procedures, documentation, and governance practices.
  • Promote and support Microsoft 365 adoption through technical guidance, communications, training materials, and engagement with Business Enablement teams.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise security, compliance, information governance, and data protection requirements.
  • Support the introduction and adoption of emerging Microsoft capabilities including Copilot, AI-powered productivity services, automation platforms, and future digital workplace technologies.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure successful service transition, operational readiness, knowledge transfer, and continual service improvement utilizing ITIL and established engineering practices.
