About The Position

The Microprocessor Technician reports to the Engineering Services Leader and performs maintenance activity for plant electrical, instrument, HVAC, communications, weighing systems, and process control systems. The Microprocessor Technician’s primary responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and electronic components throughout the facility, including auxiliary equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and improving PLCs and their programming and participating in improvement initiatives involving the digital transformation of Duncan Stewart.

Requirements

  • 2 year electrical, electronics, or electro-mechanical degree from an accredited school or a demonstrated equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to size conductors as well as install rigid or flexible conduit associated with field instrumentation installations.
  • Basic understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC’s and the I/O’s that interface with the field instrumentation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and be capable of using industrial motorized equipment including lift trucks, boom lifts, etc.
  • Have a basic knowledge of industrial processes to include drive systems, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to operate Powered Industrial Equipment (lift truck, walk behind lift, pallet jack).
  • Strong problem solving, technical and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment as well as work in teams.
  • Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces change.
  • Ability to communicate professionally during all interfaces.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • PLC programming including graphic interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance activity for plant electrical, instrument, HVAC, communications, weighing systems, and process control systems.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and electronic components throughout the facility, including auxiliary equipment.
  • Maintains, upgrades, and improves PLCs and their programming.
  • Participates in improvement initiatives involving the digital transformation of Duncan Stewart.
  • Actively participates in the Duncan Stewart safety process, including complying with all safety rules and procedures, being active on a safety team, and achieving 100% in Safety Engagement.
  • Works scheduled hours.
  • Is available for after-hour support on weekends/evenings as required.
  • Interacts effectively with management, staff, vendors, customers, and works independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Reads and understands P&ID and electrical drawings.
  • Sizes conductors and installs rigid or flexible conduit associated with field instrumentation installations.
  • Lifts 50 lbs and is capable of using industrial motorized equipment including lift trucks, boom lifts, etc.
  • Operates Powered Industrial Equipment (lift truck, walk behind lift, pallet jack).
