About The Position

This internship focuses on System Engineering within Microcontrollers, specifically for Summer 2027. The intern will be mentored by senior team members to develop a project that highlights the capabilities of the latest NXP microprocessors. The project will concentrate on artificial intelligence and machine learning, with a specific emphasis on time series analysis and anomaly detection. Collaboration will be key, involving local team members as well as global Designers, Software Developers, and other engineers. The intern will manage their project from its inception through planning, execution, and final product delivery, culminating in a presentation to the leadership team. Additionally, the intern will contribute to firmware development, proofs of concept, and materials that enhance the company's product offerings.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Must have proficiency in the C language.
  • Must be returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship term.
  • Experience with embedded Systems on Chip, especially ARM Cortex architecture.
  • Embedded software development and debug experience including one of more of the following: operating systems, device drivers, connectivity stack (802.15.4, BLE, Thread, Zigbee).
  • Experience with embedded software development and debug.
  • Technical writing skills for creating application notes, white papers, and user’s guides / reference manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Create a project showcasing the capabilities of the latest NXP microprocessors in AI/ML with a focus on time series and anomaly detection.
  • Collaborate with local and global team members, including Designers, Software Developers, and other engineers.
  • Manage a project from conception to planning, execution, and final product.
  • Present the project to the leadership team.
  • Contribute to the development of firmware and proofs of concept.
  • Develop materials that enhance the product offering.
  • Build application/demos/drivers porting or development.
  • Build innovative functions or use case demonstrators in areas like security and connectivity.
  • Perform technical feasibility studies on key functions.
  • Build reference designs in various strategic domains.
  • Write application notes and white papers.
  • Review Reference Manuals and Data Sheets.
  • Contribute to Developer guides and 'Ease-of-use' documentation.
  • Interact with other job functions like lab technicians to complete project tasks.
