About The Position

Red Wine & Blue is seeking a bold and visionary State Program Director to lead their powerhouse team in Michigan. This role involves setting the vision and driving program strategy across the state to mobilize, engage, and expand women’s civic and political participation. The ideal candidate is a powerhouse leader passionate about mobilizing women, tired of politics-as-usual, thriving in fast-paced environments, and skilled at turning big ideas into action. The position oversees a team of five, directly supervises the Deputy Program Director, reports to the Head of States Program, and is a full-time role based out of the employee's home office in Michigan. Frequent in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel are required.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in leadership roles, particularly in program management, community engagement, or political advocacy.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating programs that drive impact.
  • Strong ability to lead, mentor, and support a team, including people managers.
  • Proficiency in using data to inform strategy, track outcomes, and assess program effectiveness.
  • Deep understanding of grassroots mobilization, coalition building, and advocacy strategies.
  • Experience allocating resources effectively.
  • Familiarity with policy development, legislative processes, and advocacy work.
  • Ability to work effectively with people across diverse backgrounds.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, juggling competing priorities, and shifting focus.
  • Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • Must currently reside in the state of MICHIGAN.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Every Action CRM experience highly desired.
  • Ability to navigate Ohio’s political landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for relational organizing initiatives.
  • Mentor, coach, and empower the organizing team, directly managing the Deputy Program Director.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders and partner organizations.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of campaigns to mobilize suburban women.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources for maximum program impact.
  • Implement data-driven evaluation methods to assess program effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of equity and inclusion within the organization and through community engagement.
  • Create a strong, supportive team environment with open communication and collaboration.
  • Utilize social media to engage, persuade, and inform audiences.
  • Represent the organization in the media and with partners, coalitions, and stakeholders.
  • Act as the final decision-maker for hiring within the state organizing team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
