About The Position

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility) is a growing 144-bed behavioral health facility that provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults. They also perform behavioral health assessments 24-hours a day and offer programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy. The Unit Manager provides administrative and clinical supervision to all nursing staff and mental health technicians on two or more units. This role serves as a liaison to department directors and administration to ensure coordinated and efficient operations of services and departments on their unit. As a member of hospital operational leadership, this person has responsibility for treatment services provided by the nursing department for the inpatient psychiatric programs. Primary responsibilities include administrative management, training and supervision/evaluation of all nursing staff, house supervisors, and unit clerks; prioritization and delegation of duties; staff scheduling; and performing direct patient care services in the Nursing capacity. This working supervisor role must work in cooperation with physician staff and other department managers.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures.
  • 24-hour shift staffing experience.
  • Currently licensed by the State of Michigan as an RN.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Current CPR certification.
