They are responsible for leading, planning, and executing high-end private events that may include meetings, private receptions and dinners, weddings, corporate meals and functions, and galas. This role ensures that all events adhere to five-star service standards while maximizing efficiency and seamless execution with culinary team, service staff, and group sales staff. As a member of the food and beverage leadership team you are a critical contributor to the success of our business. You exude professionalism and are proactive, anticipatory, and ardently committed to our hospitality service standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of food and beverage management experience in a hotel/resort setting preferred
  • 2+ years of catering and events service experience, with luxury service standards preferred
  • Strong knowledge of multi-course plated service, bartending, and wine service
  • Ability to work all shifts when necessary, including days, mids, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to obtain both a food handlers card and OLCC permit
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire excellence
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in written and verbal communication
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office products and good computer skills
  • Experience with a POS system preferred, but not required
  • Ability to understand and apply labor and industry-specific laws and regulations
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work inside, outside, and at offsite locations when necessary
  • Standing and walking, with occasional bending, reaching, or kneeling
  • Ability to reach with hand and arms, sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb throughout the property, be in refrigerated areas, and to talk or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level is moderate
  • The work environment has frequent temperature swings as the employee moves between guest spaces, outdoors, and refrigerators for example

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of all banquet style and catered functions, ensuring that service protocols, room layout, scheduled timeline, and atmosphere meet the luxury standards of The Allison Inn & Spa
  • Lead the banquet team members with effective recruitment and hiring, training and development, performance feedback, coaching and mentorship
  • Identify opportunities for department innovation, improvement, and growth; and proactively create solutions for challenges and problems
  • Perform in the capacity of any position supervised as needed
  • Have familiarity with Event Orders (EOs)
  • Keep excellent organization and order while multi-tasking and staying focused on service details in a fast-paced environment
  • Meet and greet group contacts - ensuring EO timelines and details are accurate; assist with set up needs, ensuring readiness for their program; exceed client expectations through anticipatory planning
  • Effectively communicate client and guest requests or changes to the appropriate outlets when necessary, which may include front desk, kitchen, restaurant/bar, housekeeping, sales, and spa
  • Coordinate EO details with kitchen chefs, banquet captains, and banquet team members
  • Lead and supervise the banquet team through a successful event - creating staff assignments, set and turnover lists, monitoring uniform and service standards, ensuring breaks are taken at appropriate times in absence of Banquet Captain
  • Ability to hold a pre-shift meeting with team members to review the EO, group resume, assignment list, set list, and timeline for the event in absence of Banquet Captain
  • Ensure all rooms are set by function start time and team members are in the correct place in line with the banquet department “15-minute ready rule”
  • Supervise and assist team members throughout events by working side by side for pre-event set up, event execution, and post event set- up and breakdown
  • Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization
  • Ensure accurate configuration of the POS platform
  • Demonstrate a team-oriented attitude at all times while maintaining a positive and collaborative mindset
  • Possess a strong ability to work independently, efficiently, and productively
  • Ability to perform opening and closing responsibilities of the department
  • Supervise safe handling and proper storage of all banquet equipment
  • Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures consistent with standards of The Allison Inn & Spa
  • Follow all rules and regulations of The Allison Inn and Spa Food and Beverage Division
  • Adhere to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage, and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Monitor budgets and financial performance of the department
  • Oversee inventory control, ensuring accurate tracking, cost efficiency, and alignment with financial goals
  • Write the department schedule
  • Supervise payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Perform and oversee daily billing and billing adjustments
  • Perform and oversee the completion and distribution of daily event summary reports
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management
