About The Position

This Manager-level position reports to the Sr. Director, Lighting and Meter Services, and provides leadership in the areas of specification, testing, maintenance, and procurement of revenue metering and load research equipment. Managing activities that may include engineering, meter testing, random sampling, load surveying, instrument testing, standards and calibration, billing and load survey equipment specification, meter procurement and installation, meter data translation, work planning and scheduling, maintaining meter and associated equipment records, dielectric testing of aerial devices, rubber gloves and blankets. Responsible for all aspects of the department’s operation and is accountable for ensuring adherence to all company policies and operating requirements. This position is responsible for the safety, supervision, and development of a staff of more than 35 professional, technical, support and craft team members. This position is responsible for providing reliable electric service to 685,000 customers in a safe and compliant manner.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field
Minimum of six years of work experience in utility operations
Three years of supervisory experience
Leadership skills

ability to achieve department goals under changing conditions
knowledge of the E&G budgeting and forecasting structure
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s Degree in a related field
Professional Engineering Certification in the State of Florida.
Work experience in Meter Operations or Field Operations
Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Interest Based Bargaining Intent Book
familiarity with SAP ERP and BPC.

Responsibilities

Oversight of $77M in electric assets; accountable for the execution of $14M O&M & Capital budgets.
Development of the annual budget for Meter Operations, and analysis and control of all expenditures associated with administration of this department.
Selection, supervision and development of the supervisory and technical staff required to cost-effectively carry out functions of the department.
Oversight of compliance activities for Tampa Electric’s revenue metering system in relation to Florida Public Service Commission Rules and Regulations, NERC and other applicable State and Federal regulations.
Leadership over the transition to AMI metering.
Leadership in metering initiatives such as changes to net metering, meter failure analysis, and meter process improvements.
Participation in industry organizations and activities related to revenue metering.
