About The Position

Responsible for ensuring that operating objectives are met through prudent management of field personnel engaged in the construction of electric distribution facilities, operation and maintenance of transmission and distribution facilities, and emergency response. Ensures field personnel convey a positive company image to the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or applicable field from an accredited school and 6 years of experience in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground utility lines and other facilities used to transmit and distribute electric power.
  • Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with a minimum of 6 years of experience in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground utility lines and other facilities used to transmit and distribute electric power.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: Power line construction, operating, and maintenance practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: All federal state, and local safety/compliance regulations affecting distribution operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of: The company’s collective bargaining agreement and customer service business practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated skills such as: Analytical, interpersonal and communication
  • Demonstrated skills such as: Leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and labor management
  • Demonstrated skills such as: Creativity and skill in managing a 24X7 operations organization.
  • PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely construction, continuity, and reliability of electric service by organizing and directing the construction, operating/maintenance, and trouble response personnel.
  • Ensures availability of appropriate equipment, materials, and other resources for the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution systems.
  • Maintains public and employee safety by directing safety programs in accordance with company safety rules, practices and procedures, local, state, and federal regulations; assumes environmental leadership role.
  • Maintains electric systems reliability and quality of service to existing customers within budget constraints through implementation and management of facilities maintenance programs.
  • Manages and coordinates area service manager assignments and engages on complex system or operational issues beyond the scope of individual service managers.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports to provide reference material for budgeting, claims and other company departments. Ensures proper handling of hazardous materials and DOT compliance.
  • Ensures safety, integrity and availability of electric system through its safe operation.
  • Ensures that employees adhere to established policies, procedures, and practices in carrying out their assigned duties while also fostering a culture of mutual respect between represented employees and direct leadership.
  • Serves as a liaison between electric delivery organization and labor, senior leadership, grid operations, and major accounts.
  • Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company. Monitors and enforces all compliance requirements for area of responsibility.
