Mental health and wellbeing along with substance abuse challenges are by nature unpredictable, complex, frequently chronic and emergent in nature. The Manager II Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is responsible for helping lead critical initiatives of Union Pacific's EAP. The EAP team assists with helping support the safe and efficient operations of the railroad through program initiatives and interactions helping with highly sensitive issues such as substance abuse, mental health and wellbeing, employee suicide, employee fatalities at work and home and employee loss of employment due to failed drug or alcohol tests. Primary responsibilities of this position include EAP case management, critical incident oversight, and continuous improvement case management initiatives for employees who are considered in the status of conditions of employment governed by FRA guidelines and Union Pacific's medical guidelines. These functions are essential in contributing to the safety and health of the workforce and the public. The EAP team provides on-call support services 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
