About The Position

This position is responsible for technical leadership and overall project management (cost/schedule/budget) of the SSN(X) Propulsion Plant Structures Team. This Team is primarily focused on new design for the Reactor Plant and Steam Plant on the next generation fast attack submarine, SSN(X). The Team will also support new Propulsion design efforts for future Virginia Class upgrades. This position requires working collaboratively with multiple external organizations, including NAVSEA, Naval Reactors, Naval Nuclear Laboratory, Electric Boat, and vendors.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
US Citizenship Required for this Position
Final Clearance Required to Start

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory or project management experience is preferred
Significant experience with submarines and submarine systems.
Reactor and Steam Plant and/or construction experience is highly desirable.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent project management skills, including a working knowledge of EVMS, Microsoft project, and/or related tools
Familiarity with submarine design processes and design tools
