About The Position

This position will lead the New Construction CVN Waterfront Platform Engineering group made up of Engineers and Designers who directly support the deck plate in keeping work, testing, material, and instructions flowing. They will be the first point of contact for CVN79/80/81 Engineering in order to resolve Work and Test stoppage issues involving Production, Construction, Test, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Office. The supervisor will also need to train and develop their people to improve their and the group’s capabilities, especially as the group tends to host many rotation Apprentices and Engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Familiarity with contract/engineering/construction processes and management. Special emphasis for Waterfront Support, such as Inspection Reports and material procurement, is desired.
Familiarity with New Construction and/or In-Service US Navy ship construction, repair, and modernization specifications and processes such as drawings, inspection reports, material procurement, etc. is desired.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications is preferred but not required.
