This Engineering Manager 2 position is intended for the PPMC/PPLAN Systems group within Department E86, responsible for supervising a team that focuses on the installation and maintenance of PPMC and PPLAN equipment and all associated shipboard cabling, on CVN78 Class ships. Specifically, the manager will be responsible for ensuring that all PPMC/PPLAN equipment is installed in accordance with all installation standards, specifications, procedures, and methods as well as addressing risks associated with obsolescence issues. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for the review and issuance of all TWDs for PPMC and PPLAN including CCPPs, CCPIs, eIRs, PM cards, and Trouble Records. Beyond the technical aspect of this position, the manager will be required to communicate regularly with the A1B PREPY (NNS), the Reactor Plant Contractors Office (RPCO), Nuclear Quality Control (NQC), Nuclear Test Engineering (E84), and Naval Reactors Resident Office (NRRO). The manager will also interact and support multiple trades personnel, ensuring the group provides continuous deck plate technical support across all PPMC/PPLAN electrical issues during the ship’s construction and testing. This will be accomplished by establishing and maintaining a strong collaborative relationship between the group and all internal/external customers, while optimizing the engineering processes and assisting with engineering evaluation or analysis. Lastly, the manager will attend various daily waterfront meetings to include Agenda, IWL, and PODs as well as support requests for various upper management meetings to include NAVSEA 08 weekly meetings, RPCO monthly meetings, NAVSEA Audits, and senior staff meetings. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and have exceptionally strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. They must demonstrate robust leadership skills that allow them to work independently at a high level with minimal oversight from upper management, even in high-pressure situations. Strong multitasking abilities are necessary to ensure the completion of multiple concurrent tasks while coordinating with various levels of management or lead engineers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial, along with the capability to develop and prioritize work schedules for individual engineering and construction tasks. The candidate must offer clear guidance to both internal and external departmental personnel to fulfill the program's scheduled requirements and represent the organization on project and construction matters. Additionally, the candidate should have a solid technical knowledge base in CVN78 Class Propulsion Plant equipment, preferably PPMC and PPLAN, at a minimum and be familiar with waterfront/trade processes, while effectively applying engineering principles, theories, and concepts to resolve complex engineering challenges. Furthermore, significant deck plate experience and an understanding of deck plate issues are essential. Finally, the candidate should be capable of translating issues into white papers and presentations for all levels of NNS management and both internal and external customers.
