About The Position

AGC Chemicals Americas (AGCCA) is seeking a highly motivated and strategic professional to join their team in a combined Advocacy, Product Stewardship, and Regulatory Affairs role. This position will advocate for AGCCA's product portfolio at the U.S. federal and state levels, develop and execute North America advocacy strategies, and coordinate closely with global teams to ensure alignment on regulatory and policy priorities. This role supports—and increasingly leads—product stewardship, regulatory compliance, and market access activities across the Americas, while advancing the company’s policy priorities, shaping regulatory frameworks, and ensuring a supportive legislative and regulatory environment for AGCCA's products. The ideal candidate brings strong technical and regulatory expertise, coupled with the ability to influence policy outcomes and grow into a senior leadership position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Law, or related field).
  • 8–15+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or government affairs within the chemical or related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with U.S. federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and regional chemical regulatory frameworks (e.g., TSCA, FIFRA, OSHA, state regulations).
  • Solid understanding of product stewardship principles, risk assessment, and lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to influence regulatory and policy outcomes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to integrate science, regulation, and business objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical and policy writing.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization
  • Willing to travel (20-40%) for advocacy activities, regulatory engagement, and global coordination.
  • Experience in both advocacy/government affairs and technical regulatory functions.
  • Established network in regulatory agencies and industry associations.
  • Demonstrated potential for growth into senior leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements advocacy strategies to support product registration, continued use, and market access in the United States and across North America.
  • Engages with federal and state regulators (e.g., EPA and state agencies), legislators, and key stakeholders to influence policy outcomes.
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory developments and proactively shapes company positions.
  • Represents the company in industry associations, coalitions, and advocacy forums.
  • Supports and progressively leads product stewardship programs to ensure safe use, compliance, and sustainability across the product lifecycle.
  • Drives regulatory compliance for chemical products, including interpretation and application of key frameworks (e.g., TSCA, FDA, CEPA, state-level regulations).
  • Supports product registrations, renewals, and defense of existing products in the marketplace.
  • Identifies regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect business continuity.
  • Leads the development of North America advocacy strategy aligned with business priorities and global policy direction.
  • Enables market access by aligning regulatory, stewardship, and advocacy approaches.
  • Develops policy positions, technical justifications, and scientific narratives supporting product safety and value.
  • Coordinates closely with global regulatory, stewardship, and advocacy teams to ensure consistency and alignment of positions.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders including R&D, Commercial, Legal, Communications, and EHS functions.
  • Provides regional insights to inform global regulatory and advocacy strategies.
  • Takes on increasing leadership responsibilities across advocacy and stewardship initiatives.
  • Mentors junior team members and contributes to capability building.
  • Supports strategic planning and long-term positioning of the product portfolio.
