About The Position

Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) provide non-medical counseling services to military Service Members and their families. This role is designed to be flexible, supporting needs on an as-needed basis without the complexities of insurance or extensive paperwork. MFLCs act as a first line of defense for mental health, offering preventative and solution-focused approaches to issues before they escalate. Counselors may support adults or minors in various settings, including embedded with military units, supporting families, or working in schools. The position emphasizes enhancing operational readiness and family resiliency by addressing issues such as relationships, stress management, parenting, financial concerns, and deployment-related challenges. Special considerations apply for roles supporting Special Operations Command (SOCOM), requiring additional clearances due to the sensitive nature of the work and the high-pressure environments Service Members operate in. Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) MFLCs focus on supporting children and youth, providing guidance to staff and parents, and modeling behavior management techniques. The MFLC model allows counselors to concentrate on their counseling practice and the Service Members and families they support, with intuitive reporting tools and no insurance filing or treatment plans required.
