About The Position

Perform preventative maintenance, mechanical machine repairs, equipment inspection and testing, building maintenance, and specific projects. Work safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve plant performance in Safety, Quality, and Reliability (SQR), while supporting the Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership consistent with the Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles and demonstrate company values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The role includes installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and facility pipe and electrical systems. It also involves troubleshooting production and facility equipment, completing scheduled and emergency work, supporting predictive and preventative maintenance, and participating in plant initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize operations. Employees must follow food safety and quality programs and be able to work around ingredients or finished products containing food allergens.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and precision.
Proficient mechanical knowledge and skills in one or more maintenance classifications: electrical, welding and fabrication, utilities, or basic PLCs.
Strong sense of urgency during periods of downtime.
Team player with a positive attitude.
Reliable and dependable.
Self-motivated and self-directed, with the ability to organize and define tasks with minimal supervision.
Basic computer use, knowledge, and skills.
Ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Experience in food manufacturing and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Two or more years of maintenance mechanic technician experience or relevant technical training/certification.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and facility pipe and electrical systems.
Set up and use machine tools, including lathes, grinders, drill presses, and milling machines, to repair or fabricate parts.
Troubleshoot issues and repair production and facility equipment failures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Complete assigned work orders and unplanned or emergency tasks as required.
Maintain the maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion.
Use maintenance systems to complete daily, weekly, and monthly duties.
Operate material handling equipment safely.
Document work order information and completion.
Support the predictive and preventative maintenance program.
Participate in and actively support plant initiatives, including minimizing or eliminating downtime and optimizing plant operations.
Perform duties accurately and safely in a fast-paced environment.
Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality food that meets regulatory and company requirements.
Remain accountable to Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
Work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergens.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
