About The Position

The Metrology Technician is responsible for measurements using laser trackers and scanners. This employee will report to the Metrology Manager/Metrology Lead Technologist. Your role is to support planning and execution of field assignments working in a team environment under the guidance of the Metrology Manager. The role requires proficiency in the operation of metrology, surveying, alignment, and layout using measurement instruments, as well as CAD modeling in various software such as Spatial Analyzer, PolyWorks, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Cyclone. The technician must complete all associated documentation and forms within a Construction Work Plan and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, problem solving, and analytical skills, and be able to prioritize and work tight deadlines. The role involves public contact with customers, suppliers, Project Managers, project personnel, and trades personnel. Requirements

  • Technical degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong Inspection background as a Metrologist
  • Computer literate in MS Office/Excel
  • CAD software operation in various software (3D modeling)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with team members, internal customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, problem solving, analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in point cloud and laser tracker/scanner use would be an asset
