About The Position

The Metrology Lead Engineer will lead measurement and calibration excellence for Type One Energy’s stellarator fusion machines. The role will help select metrology systems, define the metrological approach, and develop processes and procedures to ensure components meet specifications before integration and that assemblies can be installed and aligned within the stellarator system. The position supports early-stage design and detailed manufacturing, providing practical, scalable solutions for complex engineering challenges and extreme environments. It combines technical leadership with project discipline and contributes to predictable, transparent delivery within an EVM-based project management framework and the company’s fusion energy development roadmap. The role is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, is permanent and full-time, and reports to the VP Stellarator Maintenance & Inspection Services. The position may require access to technology or information subject to U.S. export control laws; employment offers for affected positions are contingent on the company’s ability to comply with applicable requirements and obtain any necessary authorizations.
