About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Industrial, or related discipline) is required.
  • Applied experience in your engineering discipline may be academic, project-based, lab-based, or internship-related.
  • Hands-on experience or exposure to metrology tools, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Micro-Vu and Keyence
  • Awareness or basic experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) is required; ability to interpret drawings is expected.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow inspection procedures accurately is required.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and specifications is required.
  • Willingness to work onsite five days per week in Westbrook, ME is required, with occasional flexibility as needed.
  • Proficiency with standard computer tools (e.g., MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day inspection work driven by Jira tickets, following established workflows.
  • Perform gemba-style evaluations to understand parts, processes, and measurement needs before inspection.
  • Use metrology equipment to measure raw material components used in IDEXX instruments.
  • Compare inspection results to engineering specifications and drawings to determine in‑spec vs. out‑of‑spec conditions.
  • Document measurement results clearly and communicate findings to engineering and quality partners.
  • Support engineers by providing measurement data that may inform tolerance definition or refinement.
  • Operate and maintain measurement equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Build foundational knowledge of metrology best practices, GD&T, and inspection fundamentals through hands-on application.
