About The Position

Moog is seeking an experienced Electronic Calibration Technician for their Military Aircraft Group in Torrance, CA. This role involves the calibration, assembly, repair, and maintenance of complex electro-mechanical, hydraulic, servo, and electronic equipment. The technician will work onsite and report to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. The position requires proficiency in using precision measuring equipment and standards, strong planning, organization, and interpersonal skills to ensure timely return to service of Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE).

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent Technical Training in a relevant field plus 5 years or more of related experience in electrical calibration, assembly, repair and/or maintenance, OR High School, GED, or equivalent plus 9 years or more of related experience in electronic calibration, assembly, repair and/or maintenance or repair of components and/or test systems.
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of precision electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical measuring equipment and standards.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete calibrations of electronic related measurement and test equipment (M&TE) in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision.
  • Perform planned and unplanned calibrations, troubleshooting, disassembly, and repairs when a breakdown or malfunction occurs.
  • Interpret and work from drawings, calibration procedures, Moog specifications, manufacturer’s instructions, and/or applicable Military Specifications.
  • Perform fault isolation diagnosis to isolate the origin of the fault to the lowest level component possible.
  • Provide technical expertise in Electronic/Test Stand related calibration to assembly, manufacturing, and model shop supervision, operators, and engineering personnel.
  • Participate and assist in capability studies with Test Equipment Engineers and Product Engineers related to the calibration of test equipment.
  • Assist with hydraulic calibrations or repairs when electronic test equipment is involved.
  • Process M&TE calibrations performed by vendors, including reviewing vendor certifications and processing returned equipment.
  • Process and implement newly purchased equipment.
  • Support on-site vendor calibrations.
  • Ensure the maintenance of laboratory standards and coordinate calibration with contracted calibration services.
  • Resolve technical issues with vendors and/or contracted services, or escalate when necessary.
  • Undertake appropriate training to stay abreast of the latest technological advances within the field.
  • Provide recommendations for updating existing calibration test procedures and data sheets.
  • Ensure the maintenance of calibration records and traceability to the National Bureau of Standards, as well as compliance to applicable Military Standards and specifications.
  • Review all calibration data and records for completeness, accuracy, and reporting of significant out of tolerance conditions.
  • Complete necessary forms for the timely completion of calibration activities.
  • Support internal, regulatory, registrar, and customer audits.
  • Participate in root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to assist in the calibration of equipment in an orderly, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Recommend improvements to existing procedures and datasheets to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Recommend the purchase of new calibration equipment and standards and/or upgrade of existing equipment.
  • Participate in lean/visual management initiatives and continuous improvement activities to improve safety, workflow, accuracies, and efficiencies.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
