About The Position

Metrology Calibration Technicians are responsible for calibrating precision electronic test equipment to ensure it meets established tolerances. This role involves performing calculations, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic test equipment. Technicians may also repair test fixtures, suggest design variations, set up automated test positions, advise users on equipment operation, create interconnecting cables, and operate computers for calibration systems. They are also responsible for updating the Metrology Management System and accessing policies and procedures via the Intra-Net.

Requirements

  • Experience in testing, adjustments and maintenance of electromechanical, mechanical, temperature, electrical type measuring and indicating instruments.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma, or equivalent experience / combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and / or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical / para-engineering task and 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrates Precision Electronic Test Equipment to verify established tolerances using standard Metrology practices and specified manuals or calibration procedures.
  • Performs algebraic, trigonometric and calculations to determine operating characteristics of equipment.
  • Maintains electronic test equipment in proper operating condition through periodic inspection, calibration, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and overhauls electronic test equipment through use of schematic diagrams, logic diagrams or instruction sheets.
  • Repairs test fixtures and equipment using hand tools and small machine tools as necessary.
  • Suggests electrical or mechanical design variations to meet new requirements subject to approval by design authority.
  • Sets up automated test positions and assists in setting up safety devices for the protection of operators when necessary.
  • May advise users of equipment in regard to proper operation and equipment limitations.
  • May make up interconnecting cables to facilitate assembly of equipment controllers in automated calibration systems or, as required, to verify the proper operation of test equipment removed from automated test positions.
  • Operate computers used as equipment controllers in automated calibration systems or used to verify the proper operation of test equipment removed from automated test positions.
  • Updates and maintains data elements of the Metrology Management System.
  • Utilize the Intra-Net to access policies and procedures.
