This is a promotional opportunity for all MTA Employees Only. The Metro Train Operator is required to perform specified trouble-shooting procedures in the event of emergencies, observe operating conditions, monitor all lights, gauges, and equipment in the vehicle cab, and shall know fixed signals, aspects, and switches. The Metro Train Operator will couple and uncouple cars, work in revenue service, pick up, store, and change out cars, and communicate with the Metro Operating Control Center. The Metro Train Operator must inspect the condition of the trains while walking through all trains at the end of each line, report any problems, and remove any lost articles or large trash. Metro Train Operator working in the yards will assemble train cars, shift, run cars through the car washer, and perform other duties as assigned. Employees should adhere to all safety rules, policies, regulations, and personal protective equipment requirements to support a safe and healthy working environment. Employees may attend and participate in safety meetings, be aware of hazards in their work area, and should report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, injuries, and accidents immediately. To support a safe and healthy work environment, employees must refrain from willful violations of safety rules and procedures, reckless and negligent behavior, involvement in criminal activities, and the misuse of drugs or alcohol. Failure to adhere to this requirement may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees may only perform work for which they have the appropriate safety training.
