About The Position

Velan is a world leader in the design and manufacture of industrial valves. Founded in Montreal, the company is recognized for the quality of its products, its technical expertise and its human and collaborative corporate culture. We are currently looking for a temporary Method Agent, under the supervision of the Manager of the Methods Department. This position plays a key role in the development and optimization of manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as the design, management and manufacture of tooling. He also acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement and contributes to the achievement of his organization's objectives by actively supporting strategic initiatives. Finally, he collaborates with the Operations and Engineering teams to support the overall performance of the plant and assists in the implementation of their strategic plan in connection with the Safety, Quality and Productivity pillars.

Requirements

  • DEC and/or BAC in a field related to the function
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Excellent knowledge of CATIA V5 or other similar software
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of machining, assembly and continuous improvement
  • Experience in a company that manufactures high-precision machined parts
  • Bilingualism in French/English, oral and written

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a company that handles and assembles large heavy components (asset)
  • Knowledge of industrial valves (asset)
  • Knowledge of hydrostatic test benches and tests (asset)
  • Knowledge of the production parts approval process – PPAP/FAI (asset)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve and maintain procedures for product assembly
  • Create and optimize manufacturing sequences (machining, welding, surface treatment, painting)
  • Define, validate and adjust technical specifications related to manufacturing, assembly and repair processes
  • Design, develop and optimize the tooling required for the manufacture and assembly of products
  • Be responsible for optimizing manufacturing and assembly to meet production rates
  • Be responsible for the first production unit and its efficiency
  • Harmonize the implementation of manufacturing and assembly strategy changes by working closely with engineering, materials logistics, quality, and production departments
  • Integrate the principles of change management and optimized production (LEAN Manufacturing) into daily activities
  • Support day-to-day production activities by providing proactive technical expertise
  • Optimize production by identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities
  • Be responsible for the compliance of tooling and manufacturing processes (manufacturing and assembly) with ergonomic and OHS (occupational health and safety) requirements and requirements
  • Be an ambassador for continuous improvement and promote a culture of innovation
  • Provide proactive technical expertise in organizational improvement projects and support project management when needed
  • Provide proactive technical expertise in problem solving and as needed by the Rapid Response Team (ANDON)
