About The Position

Records gas consumption data from residential, industrial, and commercial customers using an electronic remote reading device mounted in a company vehicle. This data is then used by Marketers for customer billing.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 1-2 years meter reading experience
• Customer service skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Defensive driving skills
• Operator Qualified in accordance with Company Plan
• Valid Driver’s License
• Company driving test
• Must be able to sit and drive for an extended period
• Physically able to stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift weights at a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted
• Must also have keen senses of smell, hearing, vision and color identification.
• Ability to work in all types of terrain and weather conditions is required.

Responsibilities

• Downloads meter reading route(s) daily; enters route information into ENSCAN electronic data collection units in vehicle; drives route and collects data from Electronic Reading Transmitters (ERTs) mounted on customers’ meters; uploads data at end of workday.
• Reviews Missed Meter Report daily to identify incomplete meter readings; performs special ENSCAN and manual readings to obtain meter data.
• Maintains electronic equipment to ensure accurate readings.
• Troubleshoots ERT problems: inspects, reprograms, repairs, removes, reinstalls units.
• Interacts with customers via telephone and in person to obtain information and answer questions.
• Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route; updates systems and corrects problems.
• Maintains and repairs ENSCAN and ERT equipment to ensure accurate meter readings; removes lithium batteries and disposes as hazardous waste.
• Converts non-ERT meters to ERT system.
• Performs shut-offs, on occasion; paints meters; removes meters.
