About The Position

METAS/Accelerated Learning Academy Teachers are needed for evening sessions at Marlborough High School, focusing on Art, PE, Health, and Wellness. The program runs for the 2026-2027 school year, with two semesters: August 2026 - January 2027 and January 2027 - June 2027. The schedule involves teaching every Tuesday and Thursday evening, and every other Wednesday evening, with one 40-minute instructional period between 4:00 PM and 4:40 PM. Up to one course of art and up to one course of physical education may be offered each semester. Teachers will also participate in planning and program meetings. This position is eligible for job sharing, allowing for various flexible schedules, including a 50/50 split or a schedule where one teacher covers Tuesdays and Thursdays and another covers every other Wednesday for content reinforcement. Regular communication between job-sharing partners is mandatory, as determined by the Director of Alternative Education.

Requirements

  • SEI endorsement required
  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education as a Teacher as appropriate for Special Position
  • Bachelor’s or higher earned academic degree
  • Demonstrated ability and strength in working with all learners

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) a plus
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and consistently monitor goals and objectives for and with students
  • Assist in assessment of students considered for Alternate Pathway to Graduation
  • Work collaboratively using current strategies and pedagogy
  • Provide a positive structured environment, addressing appropriate Physical Education, Health and Wellness or Art as appropriate for the specific position
  • Provide a positive learning environment for all students in the program
  • Communicate regularly with parents of students to develop a strong home/school partnership
  • Participate in ongoing planning, implementing, and evaluation of curriculum
  • Carry out daily responsibilities of the classroom in person with students
  • Attend program meetings, including but not limited to regular, standard monthly meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the high school Principal, the Director of Alternative Education, and the site administrator
