About The Position

This position is responsible for the technical competence in conducting environmental metallurgical test procedures involving physical and/or chemical testing metallurgical separations. The incumbent is responsible for client relationships/communications and meeting client requirements for successful project completion. The incumbent is accountable for setting and controlling project budgets and issuing project billing invoices. Responsible for the management of small and medium sized projects of variable scope and complexity. Establishes scheduling work flows through so that client deadlines are met in a timely fashion, monitor throughput and performance. Compile and analyzes metallurgical data. Prepares and composes substantial portions and/or complete reports that are ultimately provided to clients. Scheduling of metallurgical test work. Manages financial aspects of projects and issue monthly project invoices. Provides advice to Technicians, Technologists and Junior Metallurgists. Design moderate/complex environmental test programs based on client objectives. Provide guidance to clients in regard to the design of test programs and the interpretation of the results. Develop proposals for aforementioned test programs. Manage all aspects of the project, including but not limited to, preparation of scope up documentation, preparation of invoices, and reconciliation of budgets. Regular communications with clients (verbal and written). Compose final interpretive reports ensuring complete documentation encompassing all aspects of the test program (summaries of the test methods, interpretation of the test data, recommendations (if appropriate), laboratory Certificates of Analysis, and Chain of Custody documentation). Conduct applied research and experimental testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences or in a related science discipline or equivalent related work experience combined with a three-year college diploma in a Science related program (Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, etc.) is required.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a minerals testing laboratory setting is required.
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment.
  • Previous experience in mineral processing, hydrometallurgy or gold metallurgy, including flowsheet development, bench scale test work and pilot plant programs.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in the supervising of small technical teams, ideally including the supervising of people in a minerals related laboratory.
  • Demonstrates above average verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to compose clear and concise technical reports.
  • Familiar with key unit operations and equipment.
  • Proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
