About The Position

Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking a recently graduated or soon-to-be graduating Metallurgist for its Graduate Metallurgist Program at the Pogo operation in Alaska. This 2-year program offers graduates the chance to apply their education in a gold processing environment, learn from experienced professionals, and gain exposure to a multi-national mining company. The Pogo mill provides opportunities to learn about grinding, gravity concentration, flotation, leaching, and filtering unit operations. Graduates will be mentored to understand and complete key metallurgical duties and will spend time with operations, maintenance, and mining departments to gain a full appreciation of the mine site's operations. Successful completion of the program can lead to a career path as a technical expert within Northern Star or the wider mining industry.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Metallurgy/Materials or Chemistry from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite.
Extensive Excel skills required and must be demonstrated.
Excellent data analysis skills.
Current Driver’s License.
Ability to pass a background check and post offer physical.
Ability to work unsupervised and display good problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills.
Must be able to pass a post-offer physical and drug test, as well as a criminal history and background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in a mill, mine or other industrial setting is well regarded.
