About The Position

Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Metallurgical Technician. The principal duties of the successful candidate will include participating in safety and housekeeping efforts, assisting in the disposition of held, non-conforming material, reallocating excess and downgraded inventory, setting up outside processing for rework, and leading and supporting continuous improvement efforts. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years continuous casting steel sheet mill experience or 3 years of laboratory and quality assurance experience.
• Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of the steelmaking process and related defects
• Experience as a mill operator
• Experience with AS400
• Experience using Excel to compare data and look at trends

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety and housekeeping efforts, ensure a safe work environment for themselves and their teammates.
• Assist in disposition of held, non-conforming material, to include but not limited to dimensional and surface-related nonconformances.
• Reallocate excess and downgraded inventory in business system.
• Set up outside processing for rework including requisitions and production records.
• Lead and support continuous improvement efforts by reducing costs, improving quality/reliability/productivity by understanding key process indicators through analytical tools, data, and teamwork.
