About The Position

Our client is seeking a Contractor to provide the following services as part of the Natrium Materials Testing and Characterization team. This role will provide support as part of a high functioning team of engineers focused on materials and fuels testing, characterization, and supplier qualification for next generation material and components for sodium cooled fast reactors. You will be responsible for a wide range of materials characterization and testing activities in a laboratory environment located in Everett, WA.

Requirements

• A Technology or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience is required
• Metallography and sample prep experience is required
• A high attention to detail and quality control is required

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Materials Science/Engineering/Technology, Metallurgical Engineering/Technology or a related technical discipline is desired
• SEM-EDS, microscopy, and other characterization experience is preferred
• Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, or others is preferred
• Lab management experience (e.g., maintaining spaces and/or equipment) is preferred
• Experience with radiation work, including working within gloveboxes, is desired
• Strong communication skills desired

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of hands-on laboratory-based materials testing and characterization activities to support the Natrium reactor
• Perform metallography and characterization for a wide range of metallic and ceramic materials
• Generate reports detailing characterization techniques and resulting data
• Perform hands-on radiation work, including work inside of a glovebox
• Operate and maintain materials focused laboratory equipment such as furnaces, polishing equipment, and metallography equipment
• Assist with the design, fabrication, and operation of custom laboratory experiments
• Coordinate receipt inspections of incoming materials, sectioning of materials, and shipping of materials with both on-site and off-site individuals
