About The Position

The Metallurgical Laboratory Technician provides hands‑on metallurgical support to Mosaic’s mining operations by preparing and testing phosphate rock prospect core samples and special project materials. The data generated supports mine planning, engineering, and operational decision‑making related to mining plans, operating conditions, and ore reserves. This is a highly physical, hands‑on laboratory role performed in an industrial and outdoor environment. All work is completed in accordance with Metallurgical Laboratory SOPs, sample preparation best practices, and established health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of experience in an analytical, quality control, manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
  • Ability to perform physical work throughout the shift, including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and simple Excel data entry or list creation
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing, mining, production, or industrial experience
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience working with equipment
  • Comfort working in team‑based, safety‑focused environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform high‑quality, accurate, and timely preparation, processing, analysis, and reporting of mine core samples
  • Prepare samples through chopping, mixing, washing, grinding, flotation, and sizing
  • Operate and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on lab‑scale industrial equipment used for sample preparation and sizing
  • Prepare chemical reagents for use in sample processing
  • Perform field and laboratory analyses such as moisture, density, and sieve analysis
  • Accurately document and communicate sample anomalies, equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and safety concerns
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by following proper chemical handling, laboratory practices, and safety programs
  • Attend and actively participate in safety training, meetings, and audits
  • Work as part of a team while taking responsibility for assigned tasks and following standard operating procedures precisely
