About The Position

The Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) is dedicated to advancing aerospace inspection technologies and repair processes and enhancing customer support capabilities for its Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities around the globe. Manufacturing is key to our work at GE Aerospace. This role is responsible for performing metallurgical preparation and evaluation of various types of coatings and materials for aircraft engine component repair. The technician will operate typical metallurgical equipment including, but not limited to, hardness testing, micro-hardness testing, metallurgical sample preparation, stereo microscope, metallurgical microscope, chemical bath titration equipment, and provide analytical data accordingly. Adherence to laboratory procedures when operating Lab equipment is expected. The role involves working in the Services Technology Acceleration Center (STAC) metal lab as well as performing other related technical duties on the shop floor with training and guidance. The position is responsible and accountable for product safety and the quality of work, including, as a minimum, all elements defined in the GE’s Quality Policy.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (in Chemistry, Biology, Metallurgy, or related discipline preferred), or a High School diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience with metallurgical processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1 or more years of experience with reading, understanding and correctly interpreting basic drawings and customer heat treatment and cleanliness specifications.
  • 1 or more years of experience with Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Must be capable of lifting or pulling 25-50 lbs.
  • Ability to prove U.S. Person status (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee or refugee status).

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in metallurgical analysis of aerospace materials is preferred.

Responsibilities
