About The Position

Reporting to the Metallurgical Lab Supervisor, the Metallurgical Lab Technician works a Super 7 straight days schedule and is responsible for supporting metallurgical operations through laboratory testing and analysis. This role performs test work on pad, plant, and lab samples, including column tests, bottle rolls, cyanide, caustic, and lime titrations, as well as particle size and carbon activity determinations. The technician also assists with sample collection and preparation, while ensuring accurate, precise data collection and thorough record keeping to support operational performance and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively report all incidents and accidents to supervisor
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including but not limited to footwear, high visibility clothing, respirator, eye and hearing protection
  • Can work safely with chemicals including lime, cyanide, caustic and acids
  • Ability to work safely around mobile equipment
  • Can describe issues with work area to aid operations and direct maintenance work
  • Communicates with coworkers and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Must meet respirator standards and use respirators when required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be a self-starter and can complete work with little or no direct supervision.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a safe attitude and looks out for others.
  • Participate in good housekeeping in all areas of the Metallurgy and Assay Labs and maintains a clean work environment in equipment and light vehicles.
  • Perform daily work area inspections and Pre-op inspections of any light vehicle/equipment used.
  • Perform column and bottle roll gold recovery tests.
  • Perform wet chemistry checks commonly taken in the Metallurgy Lab, including cyanide titrations, pH measurements, caustic titrations and boiler water checks.
  • Perform crushing/pulverizing of samples used for column or bottle roll testing.
  • Perform carbon activity, attrition, PSD and ash tests.
  • Dispose of all residues in a safe and prescribed manner.
  • Perform all other duties as required
