About The Position

Wyman-Gordon, located in Worcester, MA, provides Isothermal Forgings for military and commercial turbine applications using nickel based and titanium alloys. Full Heat Treating, Machining and Testing on site. This growing, $200 million profit center is part of a highly successful, multi-billion diversified manufacturer, Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC). The Metallurgical Lab Supervisor is the primary leader responsible for the efficient operation of the powder metal lab. This includes a deep understanding of lab processes and product, metallurgical specifications and customer requirements.

Requirements

BS minimum in a technical/engineering field (Materials, Metallurgy, Chemical)
0-7 years’ experience in Materials/Lab functions
Proven experience in statistical analysis
Manufacturing and/or aerospace experience highly preferred.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Quality based computer systems
Good PC skills with Microsoft Office applications
Strong familiarity with compliance (AS9100, NADCAP) preferred

Responsibilities

Support optimization of our written procedures, systems, quality documents and operations to effectively improve overall efficiency of the laboratory
Manage technical personnel within the metallurgical laboratory; supervise, coach, manage and grow our technical professional and staff.
Prioritize, track and drive to completion all testing requirements across multiple sources/vendors to drive quality standards and customer delivery.
Identify and implement departmental improvements to increase laboratory process efficiencies and throughput while maintaining high quality standards
Operate lab equipment as needed
Responsible for lab supplies, inventory and consumables.
