About The Position

The full-time, on-site, working Fabrication Foreman – Metal Walls & Buildings position is responsible for daily operational accountability within the fabrication shop and in support of field operations, including planning, directing, coordinating, and executing assigned fabrication and installation activities to achieve expectations of excellence, efficiency, and accountability related to safety, quality, production, scheduling, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include oversight and hands-on production of shop fabrication processes, supervision of fabrication personnel, coordination with Project Managers and field teams, enforcement of safety standards, problem-solving, quality control of materials prior to release, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The position also requires hands-on fabrication and installation, field verification and inspections, and ensuring that all work complies with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of commercial metal wall, metal building, or sheet metal fabrication experience required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in fabrication, layout, and installation of metal wall panel and associated building systems.
  • Strong understanding of building envelope systems, roofing assemblies, materials, and commercial construction site safety practices.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, specification interpretation, and shop drawing review.
  • Ability to perform accurate field measurements and layout.
  • Knowledge and safe operation of hand and power tools associated with sheet metal fabrication and installation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Military Base Access for ongoing projects.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically to support jobsite needs.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Ability to perform job duties while standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and on sloped surfaces.
  • This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Overtime may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Comfortable working on roofs at varying height and multiple stories.

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair sheet metal, metal wall panel systems, and associated building systems in accordance with project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
  • Perform project investigation, field verification, measurements, and layout to support accurate fabrication and installation.
  • Develop and provide necessary shop drawings, fabrication sketches, and layout details for sheet metal production.
  • Fabricate sheet metal components and oversee fabrication crew output to ensure accuracy, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Coordinate daily fabrication activities to align with project schedules and field installation needs.
  • Review project scope and sequencing with the Project Manager and project team to ensure fabrication and installation alignment.
  • Ensure all materials required to complete the scope are inspected and available in a timely manner for fabrication and installation.
  • Inspect fabricated materials prior to release to confirm compliance with plans, specifications, and manufacturer standards.
  • Provide detailed documentation of field diagnoses, repair procedures, and installation methods, including written reports, photographs, and sketches as required.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate activities of sheet metal workers and helpers.
  • Train and mentor team members in proper fabrication techniques, installation standards, safety procedures, and maintenance practices.
  • Perform supervisory functions while actively engaging in hands-on sheet metal trade work alongside crews.
  • Lead field and shop crews in the efficient and safe installation and repair of wall and associated building systems.
  • Ensure quality of all fabrication, repair, and installation work in accordance with project plans and company standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of on-site quality control measures and hold scope or QC discussions with crews prior to definable features of work when required.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication and field application issues with minimal supervision, promptly escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Manage job sites, shop areas, tools, equipment, and materials to ensure organization, efficiency, and proper utilization.
  • Maintain job sites and shop environments that comply with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Drive and enforce a safety-first mindset with employees, subcontractors, visitors, and customers.
  • Inspect safety equipment and PPE prior to use and ensure daily compliance with safety requirements.
  • Ensure building envelope systems, including roofs when applicable, are safe, secure, and weather-tight at the end of each workday, including proper material storage and fire watch procedures when necessary.
  • Conduct daily jobsite inspections utilizing written and photographic documentation.
  • Prepare accurate Daily Reports documenting fabrication progress, field activities, and project conditions.
  • Provide progress photos of fabrication, installation, and nightly tie-in work as required.
  • Travel independently to job sites as necessary to perform repairs, inspections, punch list completion, and jobsite cleanup.
