About The Position

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, has an opening for a Metal Heat Treater for their day shift operations. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, with potential Saturday work based on workloads. Urschel designs and manufactures industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries worldwide from its global headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana. The company utilizes advanced manufacturing technologies in a climate-controlled, clean, and environmentally conscious facility.

Requirements

Minimum of one year's manufacturing experience.
High school education or equivalent, or post-high school training in manufacturing or engineering-related disciplines.
Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and blueprints.
Ability to solve math problems.
Ability to multi-task and understand priorities.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Set-up, operation, and maintenance of heating equipment to heat treat and braze a variety of metal parts using atmosphere furnaces, vacuum furnaces, and induction equipment.
Assemble and/or straighten parts according to specification.
Utilize knowledge of instruments and gauges used with heat treating equipment.
Operate Rockwell hardness testing machines and other testing devices.
Keep documented files on all heat-treating jobs to reference procedures, heats, etc.
