About The Position

Digifabshop is a digital fabrication shop specializing in custom architectural interiors, building components, and fine art fabrication. Our work spans retail, hospitality, commercial, architectural features, and large-scale artwork. Our team works on technically ambitious, high-profile projects of complexity and scale. Digifabshop is looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our rapidly expanding team. At Digifabshop, our Metal fabricators are responsible for coordinated assembly of various types of architectural and design-oriented metal assemblies.

Requirements

  • Mathematics - Uses basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division); working knowledge of fractions and decimals
  • Communication – Effectively conveys accurate information to coworkers, Team Leaders, and supervisors while carrying out tasks
  • Reading Comprehension - Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Quality Control Analysis - Examines products, services, or processes to evaluate their quality
  • Efficiency – Balances quality and timeliness while carrying out shop assignments
  • Active Listening - Gives full attention to what other people are saying, takes time to understand the points being made, asks questions as appropriate
  • Digital Literacy - Proficient in use of electronic communication such as email, as well as Digifabshop’s payroll and HR software platforms
  • Knowledge of different materials and their handling requirements.

  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Uses TIG and MIG welding processes to precisely and effectively join metal stock
  • Uses Oxy-Acetylene torch to make accurate custom bends in metal stock
  • Uses band saw, cold saw, and other saws to cut a variety of metal stock down to specified measurements
  • Reads and Interprets shop drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences
  • Performs a variety of secondary processes including but not limited to: degreasing, deburring, grinding, and finishing
  • Taps and drills metal with hand and power tools
  • Assembles and fastens fabricated and welded metal parts according to oral instructions, written instructions, or shop drawings
  • Inspects all outgoing metalwork for quality in materials and workmanship
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with OSHA industry standards
  • Quality Control: Monitor machine performance and conduct regular quality checks on finished products to ensure precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment to keep them in optimal working condition.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, including the safe operation of machines and equipment, and report any safety issues or concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance activities, and production data.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members, including designers and production managers, to achieve project goals and meet client expectations.
