About The Position

The Metal Fabrication Estimator prepares accurate cost estimates for custom fabricated products in Schebler's Specialty Fabrication department. Working under general supervision, the estimator reviews drawings and specifications, gathers material and subcontract pricing, and develops estimates that support bids and pricing decisions. The role uses Paperless Parts estimating software and collaborates with project managers, engineering, and the shop to clarify project scope and resolve questions. It is based in Bettendorf, Iowa, and is primarily office-based, with occasional time on the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and the ability to learn new software.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as construction management, engineering, or business.
• Prior cost estimating experience.
• Experience with Paperless Parts or similar estimating software.
• Exposure to industrial manufacturing or metal fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand the full scope of work.
• Obtain pricing for materials, subcontracted work, and purchased components.
• Collect and analyze labor, material, and process data to build accurate project cost estimates.
• Prepare estimates and quotes using Paperless Parts estimating software.
• Work with project managers, engineering, and the shop to clarify scope and resolve questions.
• Maintain organized estimate records to support bidding and pricing decisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
